Back in the kitchen, Eleanor emerged from the pantry grinning like the Cheshire cat and holding a gigantic chocolate cake, covered with loose plastic wrap. “Glad you found your way back? Did I hear someone mention vandalism? It might sound like a bad idea right now, but let it simmer until the tequila kicks in.”

She paused, removing the plastic and dragging her finger through the thick layer of dark frosting. “Ladies, tonight we’re gonna handle this the way Southern women always have. We are gonna drink. We are gonna smoke. We are gonna make fun of his willy. And”—she plopped the chocolate into her mouth, eyes rolling back in her head—“we’re gonna eat this here cake until we’re sick. Have no fear, calories do not exist in situations such as this.”
“Do I want to know what’s in that cake?” Nikki asked.

Eleanor winked. “Not if you want plausible deniability.”

THE MEDUSA TALISMAN

Alex has barely strapped on her magical training wheels when a gorgon slithers into town! Medusa isn’t just seeking asylum, either. She expects Alex’s help in breaking her own family’s infamous curse.
Old hatred runs deep in creatures with such long memories, and keeping the entire town from going after Medusa with their own torches and pitchforks may prove impossible.
Thankfully, Alex has a couple of hotter than-sin distractions to help her...learn to control the wilder aspects of her magic.
Unfortunately, her ex-husband’s prolonged recovery, under her roof, doesn’t exactly put Alex in the mood for romance, and she can forget fostering calm feelings of control.
Handing Mike over to Medusa may be Alex’s biggest temptation yet. And with her barely contained magic on the fritz, Alex may not be the best witch to help remove Medusa’s curse, anyway. Especially since she can’t seem to do anything about her own.
But when a high-ranking demon tries to use Alex’s family to force her own curse into action, those magical training wheels have to come off.
It's time for Alex to pull up her mom-jeans and kick some demon ass.

And since Alex is no closer to ending the Raymund family curse, she may very well be among the casualties.

Alex is married to a dead man. Not kidding, y’all.
Her ex-husband’s reanimated corpse has filed a legal claim to gain access to the Magnolia House Estate since they are, legally, still married. Talk about ridiculous loopholes—but that’s not the only loophole he plans to exploit.
Obviously, Alex will do whatever it takes to protect Magnolia House—including planning Mike’s re-murder. She may not have murdered him the first time, but that just means she doesn’t have to feel guilty about doing it the second time.
As if on cue, her new boyfriend’s creepy ex also makes an appearance in town, and the hold she has on him—and Alex's ex—is nothing short of magical. In the controlling, manipulative, I-put-a-hex-on-you type of magical. Breaking the demoness’s hold will require her to have faith in both men, and faith in the power she wields.
Trusting a man who’s broken every vow he ever made, and another man who has every reason to betray her now, may prove too much. Especially when Alex's own family curse decides her bill is due.
